I turned on my timer at 12:00 noon and set the frequency, but now only the “1” times per day row is blinking on each row.

What has happened is the electronics lost power with the processor and has reset itself.  To fix, you must re-initiate the RxTimer at 12:00 noon.  This can be done by pulling the battery out and turn it back in at 12:00 noon, or slipping a piece of rigid paper between the battery and battery contact and pulling out at noon.  You will then need to reset your desired frequencies.

I can’t hear the speaker.

The speaker is a small piezoelectric disk (buzzer) and requires a lot of power.  In an attempt to provide timer longevity (>6-months), it was our design criteria that the speaker would be a secondary alert approach.  Most users expressed that the flashing LED is adequate to get their attention, rather than the sound of the buzzer.  Others appreciated the softer buzzer, rather than an irritating sound; and after some use, could detect the buzzer as a new noise within their surrounding.

Why do you need to turn the unit on at 12:00 noon.

In an attempt to keep the RxTimer easy to activate, set and use; we decided to simplify the time keeping process.  By turning the unit on at 12:00 noon, the complexity of programming and extra buttons was eliminated.  Typically, time setting requires 3 unique buttons and patience. 

How do I change an interval after I have already turned the unit on.

Simply press and hold the rows reset button until the corresponding times per day is lit. Since the timer clock was set initially, the timer will automatically cycle from the initial setting to the new setting.

How long should the RxTimer last.

If you are diligent about responding to the alarms (LEDs and buzzer), the timer should last for nearly 6-months. 

What if I only take 1 medication, can I turn off the other 2 rows.

Yes.  The program is set-up to accommodate this need.  To turn off any row, press and hold the reset button, as the lights advance from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 there is a slight pause after 5 but before 1. At this pause point release the button and the row will be turned off.  To turn it back on, simply press the reset button and it will re-activate the row.

How is the programming code set.

Working with several doctors, pharmacists and academics, we placed the US Pharmacopeia philosophies into code.  Generally, at the time a medication is due the RxTimer alarms and continues to alarm for half the dosing period.  If the medication is not taken, the timer skips to the next dosing interval.  It is our understanding that this logic represents the base tenets of drug delivery and therapeutic regimes.  If you have questions regarding this programming strategy, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist to determine it’s applicability and if the RxTimer is appropriate for your ailment.

How do I know which frequency (times per day) to choose.

This direction is typically prescribed by your health care provider or provided by the drug manufacturer.  For over-the- counter (OTC) medication or supplements, most packages are give dosing frequency and other special instructions on their label.  For prescription medications, the physician or nurse assigns the frequency.  If in doubt regarding your dosing frequency, please contact your health care provider.

Can I change the dosing schedule.

No.  This dosing intervals and times are pre-set.

How do I change the battery.

On the back of the RxTimer is an access door.  It can be easily wedged up with your fingernail or coin.  Tapping the timer on its side or using tweezers to grab the battery.  Please ensure that you replace the battery at 12:00 noon.

What if I place the battery in backwards.

Placing the battery in backwards will cause no damage.  Simply remove the battery and insert the other way.  When the battery is inserted the right way, the program will re-initiate and the alarms (light and buzzer) will activate.  Remember, do this at 12:00 noon to ensure proper operation.

What happens when I turn on my RxTimer (at 12:00 noon).

Immediately upon pulling the battery tab, the processor does a self-check and then sequentially activates all the lights (LEDs) one at a time.  After checking all the lights the RxTimer starts by flashing the 1 times per day light for each row, and continues this cycle unit the user sets the preferred frequency.  See instructions for further detail.
